Ideal materials list 

Painters with some experience​

If those of you that are old hands attending workshops and classes bring along your usual kit that would be great.

Please include a table easel or floor-standing easel. 

 

Beginners

​For people new to painting I will have all you need for this session apart from protective clothing. If you enjoy the experience and would like to do more, you will have an idea of what to buy for the next session. 

 

​Beginners moving on​

If you've decided this is for me and would like to purchase your own kit,

below are suggestions of what you will need. I believe you should have a good standard of materials to create great work.

​Table or floor standing field easel - portable

​2 Large pots for water (cleaning brushes)

1 small pot for water (for adding to paint)

Pad of paper palettes

1 1/2" decorators brush (Harris no loss is good)

Water sprayer

​Kitchen towel​ or cotton rag

​

Brushes - a mixture of flat hog hair and synthetic brushes

1/4 inch upwards 

Recommended brands - Pro Arte hog hair, Winsor and Newton oil synthetic and Procryl brushes

 

​Winsor and Newton Galeria or System 3 heavy body acrylic paint

Cobalt blue

Cadmium yellow 

Lemon yellow 

Cadmium red 

Black 

Prussian blue 

Yellow ochre 

Titanium white (System 3 heavy body or Winsor and Newton professional)

 

GOLDEN
Alizarin Crimson (Galeria is too pink)

 

Added extras but not essential

Quinacridone Magenta, teal and Burnt Sienna.
